2025:Q4 Agenda 📆

:bookmark: ITT I am documenting the overarching goals and objectives of eom.dev for the upcoming quarter and providing regular updates on those goals. Readers can use this thread to stay updated on the platform’s latest developments and are invited to ask questions or offer suggestions in the subsequent discussion. This thread will be closed at the end of the quarter.

Planning

This quarter I am focusing on creating a reliable calendar for Owncast live-streaming and using Gitea milestones to set and track project goals.

Projects

Several projects were left unattended in Q3 so I have set some milestones to be achieved in Q4 to revitalize those efforts. Those looking for an opportunity to participate in these projects should check the respective issue boards for available stories. Users will find WikiDeck more accessible for collaboration.

Mobipi

As present, this project is little more than an idea. I would like to develop a prototype of the Mobipi device in Q4; however, I expect this to be a difficult task so the milestones are fairly modest. I intend to create a circuit board with high density connectors for the Raspberry Pi Computer Module, a battery power supply unit, display, and a 3D printed case. In addition to designing the circuit, I will be attempting to manufacture the PCB myself and will be documenting my procedures in an upcoming Discourse thread.

WikiDeck

I have created a milestone for v1.0.0 of this project that entails deploying a production server with persistent data and a usable client.

Travel

Similar to the Outer Banks trip from Q3, I have planned another expedition for Q4 - this time to the Appalachian Mountains. The details of this trip have yet to be confirmed, but I am planning to be hosting these streams towards the end of October.

Gaming

Vintage Story

Live streams from the Vintage Story server will be hosted every Saturday morning that I am not traveling. I am looking for additional players to join the server - ideally those who would be available during the scheduled streams and may be interested in recording/streaming their perspective as well. Leave a reply in the megathread if you would like to participate:

Luanti

A few live streams from the Luanti server have been scheduled as well and I intend to remove the weather mod to improve the experience. I took a break from this server towards the end of Q3 and was impressed to see that people had done quite a lot of building in my absence. Season II will continue throughout Q4 and I intend to drop in occasionally to see what people are have done. I’ll take the opportunity to remind players that they are welcome to share their own content from this server in the megathread:

Multiplayer

Streams for SuperTuxKart and Red Eclipse have been added to the calendar as well. Please reach out to @eric if you would like to be added to the calendar events.

Music

At least one concert has been added to the Owncast calendar as well. These are intended to be part informative and part entertainment, and I am hoping to solicit audience participation to prompt some improvisational material. I am quite excited for this one, and I will be sharing the resulting recorded materials in the music theory thread:

Projects

Network

I recently made a few improvements to my deployment of LocalAI that make the service much more usable on my home network. I also learned of the sister projects, LocalAGI and LocalRecall. I am feeling inspired to use these APIs in some projects, but I have not settled on anything specific just yet. For now I am just continuing to improve my deployments in the background.

A longstanding issue on the network has been the inability to use LDAP for logins on Matrix. Solving this issue would enable the creation of bot accounts which, in addition to the AI APIs mentioned above, would open the door to a large number of projects that have been in the back of my mind for a while.

WikiDeck

WikiDeck is available for beta testing. Instructions for how to do so are available in the WikiDeck Agenda thread. A few problems have been discovered and reported on Gitea already, and testing will continue throughout the rest of the quarter. I will be focusing more on other projects moving forward, so I will rely on others to try the application and report on issues.

Mobipi

With WikiDeck in beta testing, I will be shifting my attention to Mobipi in the coming weeks. Live streams have been scheduled to review the project agenda and unbox the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 for later this week. Check the Owncast calendar for the schedule.

Kraken Cryptocurrency Exchange

On the side, I have started a small live streaming series for day trading on the Kraken cryptocurrency exchange. This may become a more substantial project in the future (indeed it was one previously), but for now I am just exploring the platform and experimenting with a few small trades.

Travel

The Appalachian Mountains trip has been postponed. I was delayed in leaving for the initial trip as I was waiting for a few additions to my Hardware kit to be delivered. I don’t have a solid date in mind for this trip just yet, and unfortunately many of the campgrounds are closed due to the government shutdown. I am planning to do a trip of one kind or another in the next few weeks, but I haven’t worked out the details just yet.

Gaming

Vintage Story has taken up most of my gaming bandwidth over the past few weeks. I will continue playing this on Saturday mornings for the upcoming weeks.

Ultimately, I think Luanti is more popular on this platform, so I am also thinking I should eventually turn my focus back to it instead. I am beginning to think about a Season III of Luanti, and am hoping to start a discussion about that with the other players in the near future.

Reflection

Services on eom.dev were first deployed at the beginning of 2025. Over the past year, I have developed the following basic workflow on this platform:

  1. Live streams are hosted on Owncast using OBS
  2. Stream recordings are uploaded to MinIO and YouTube
  3. MinIO URLs are embedded into posts on Discourse and Gitea
  4. I engage with external communities using Mastodon and Matrix

In this stream, I am reviewing the products of that workflow and analyzing their performance in the content marketplace.
