Season II Megathread 🍄

What’s New?

For the new season, the world seed has been randomized and we have established an intention to develop a village near spawn. We have been able to get up and running quickly thanks to our familiarity with exiting mods and our use of the Edit mod. While there have been some additional changes to the mod list, some changes have been made to enhance gameplay.

Mods Added

Dwarf Fortress style caverns and Magma Conduits have been added. We have begun working on an underground city hoping to explore these mods more thoroughly.

Also, SkinsDB has been installed. There are only a few available by default, but players are invited to add custom skins by sending them to me. Reach out via direct message or Matrix chat for more details.

Mods Removed

Animalia has been removed. Excellent as the models and depth of behavior are, the issues with this mod were, unfortunately, numerous and distracting.

Replacements

We could create a fork of this mod to resolve these issues. Alternatively, we may experiment with the mods created by Liil:

Mod Requests

To request a mod be installed on the server, create an issue within the Season II milestone on Gitea with the label question (as in: you are asking the community if they agree with the request):

As has been previously mentioned, the Edit mod has been installed on the server, and we are copying content from Season I into Season II. Doing so has reminded me of a video from Adam Savage’s Tested showcasing a modular Dungeons and Dragons tabletop terrain:

I am subsequently inspired to create a library of modular builds that could easily be imported from season to season. Perhaps this is an idea we can build upon over the course of Season II.

I’m excited for Season II and all the building and exploration possibilities!
Adam Savage has some of the most interesting content on YT. Liked that video a lot.
