S5:E0 | Spawn
Season IV was the most unique Luanti server I have hosted so far. Between the single-node map generation, teams defined in skins, emphasis on markets, and low gravity, the previous season felt less like a traditional Minecraft server than any of the other three.
Unfortunately, there were a few issues. First of all, new players would often fall into the void without a way of returning to spawn. If I wasn’t online to teleport them back, they would end up falling forever. Also, given that this was a single node world and every block had been hand placed, I intentionally set protectors around everything in the world. This made it so that there was nowhere for people to build unless they purchased blocks from the market and then bridged off of an existing platform. This was intended, but I’m not sure it was clear to new players. Attempting to address this within the same season, I modified Mistere’s adventure map to generate at a custom location and attempted to spawn an island in the world.

Unfortunately, the island will not generate in map blocks that have already been loaded into the game, so the island had a hole through the center. It was too difficult to clean up the island, so between that and the aforementioned issues I decided a fresh start was required. For Season V, I want to keep some of the unique aspects of the previous one while implementing some changes to address these issues. Season V will retain the eleven teams, markets, single node map generation, and low gravity; however, there is now an adventure map at spawn that should be more welcoming to new players. Additionally, I have added the Block Exchange mod to the server.
In addition to many amazing builds, there are also entries in Block Exchange for entire mini-game arenas. It will still take a bit of work to get everything up and running, but this tool will allow me to import a lot of great content into the server.
