Getting back into flight sim and I’ve always liked strategy sim games in general.
Half Life, World of Warships ARMA and racing sims.
I like a lot of different games! Civilization, PUBG, Counter Strike, Morrowind, etc.
For the purposes of my network, I am always looking for FOSS multiplayer games that can be self-hosted. 0AD comes up a lot. Morrowind is a favorite of mine, so tes3mp appeals, but it would probably be fairly difficult to manage a public server for that game. Counter Strike servers can be self-hosted, and I’ve considered that as well.
If anyone has ideas I can deploy different games for us to try!
what i play mainly is PBSU a bus simulator, and all kinds of bus lines like coach or city centre BRTs
i also like trucking on ToE3 where i drive 4 axle overweight haulers, and train driving in HMMSIM where i drive intercity and subway trains but this game is sadly forgotten and outdated.
i also play other kind of games like narrowboat simulator, i am not interested in narrowboats but is a nice game, and f18-carrier-landing which has some planes and some missions.
I sometimes like to play NineLives, a MMO that was abandoned(?) and is only playable in single player, non-networked mode. It’s really quite beautiful and the stories are engaging. A lot to do even in single player mode. The developers, SmokyMonkeys, have created other games too.
The media I’m seeing for that game reminds me of my all-time favorite, Morrowind. There is actually a multiplayer mod for that game I’ve considered hosting. Is the server binary available for NineLives?
No mention of a server binary either on the Download page or on the Game Forum page.
I have recently been looking at FreeCiv, an open source Civilization II clone. From what I’ve been reading, I think I would be able to host a server for it. Maybe it would be interesting try to organize a match? I would be inclined to live stream learning the ropes first if anyone was interested.

A couple come to mind:
- Aforementioned 0AD
- Not FOSS, but source-available Barotrauma
- Mindustry
- OpenClonk
- OpenTTD
- Red Eclipse
- SuperTuxKart
- Unciv
Since we’re doing proprietary games now, I would like to contribute my list of favourites.
Do keep in mind that while proprietary, they are clearly made to be enjoyable, not to milk customers. I very much respect their devs for this.
Aforementioned Barotrauma
Factorio
Terraria
These ones don’t have multiplayer, but would still be probably cool (or at least “mildly interesting”) on stream:
Dwarf Fortress (There is a free version that uses ASCII graphics, but please play the paid graphical one if you care for your eyes)
Fractal Block World
Nice Day for Fishing
Samorost Saga (or just about any Amanita Design game)
We have got to do SimplePlanes 2 at some point.
Basically it’s a flight sim, except it’s all about building your own airplanes.
SimplePlanes 2 introduces multiplayer.
Some early SimplePlanes shenanigans (SimplePlanes 2 is everything this, plus multiplayer):
This looks cool, but from the Steam page it doesn’t seem to be available yet. Looks like March 2026 is the release date. It could be fun to do a live stream of this on release day!
