According to Wikipedia, “T-Online is a German news portal, owned and published by digital multi-channel media company Ströer”.
T-Online appears to be a German news organization and email provider, which is a somewhat unusual combination. I have reached out to their public addresses about this.
They have a presence on social media as well, so hopefully they will be willing to address the spammers using their platform for malicious purposes.
A few weeks ago I received another round of spam accounts from a different .de domain. About eight were created, and I simply blocked the domain and deleted them. As of yesterday, a new round of spam accounts have been created, this time with GMail accounts. Since I certainly will not be blocking all Google accounts, I will need to find another way to combat the spammers. I am currently looking at IP addresses as a means for dealing with this, but I suspect the spammer has more than one at their disposal.
If the person or persons responsible for these accounts is reading this, I would be delighted to hear from you! Is this the same person or group each time, or have several different ones implemented the same strategy? I had a similar problem on my Gitea server as well, was this also the same person/group? To what end? These accounts can’t post anything and don’t have public facing bios, so what is the point? Of course, I’d appreciate it if you’d stop, but I’ll settle for information as well.
