Image Sharing for the Fediverse
Pixelfed is Instagram for the Fediverse. I deployed an instance as a platform on which to share my own photographs, but am not sure it serves a distinct enough purpose to warrant a dedicated service. I already have Mastodon and Discourse on which I can upload images and maintaining another platform adds complexity to system maintenance - not to mention the Helm chart used in this deployment being unofficial.
This deployment is a little too unstable for me to rely on it as a long-term home for this data, but it may be useful if I wanted to set up automations for publishing to third-party image sharing websites. For my current trip to the Appalachian Mountains, though, I will continue to use Discourse and Mastodon.
