Luanti - Season III 🧙

I have posters but not the priv to place them there. You can take some from my protected chest in the farmhouse

Eric gave me one and I put it in the initial spawn.
Thank you anyway.

S3:E6 | Build Showcase and Commodity Markets

I logged into the server this morning and noticed a few new builds had appeared, so I hosted this brief stream while I checked them out for the first time. Towards the end, I also do a brief tutorial on how to use the commodity markets. I don’t think I did an amazing job explaining them, so I may try that again in the future, but for now it is at least something to point to for people who prefer a visual demonstration.

I didn’t do the glue horse thing. You seem to think I do a lot of ‘up to no good’ stuff.

I’m all in favour of the default “PvP off” as any new player logs on, with the option to turn it on as the individual sees fit. I’ve rarely searched out servers specifically to play PvP so I really can’t say more on how the best way to implement this is.

How do the rest of you feel about a dedicated PvP arena? I’ve seen a few but I am not well versed on what qualities a “good” arena should have?

Classical amphitheatre style?

World under glass?

What do people like? Open-air mayhem? Or a dedicated knuckle-dusting area?

Tell me what you think and maybe I’ll get busy building it.

Good idea Zephyr. I had the thought that just a region of the map could be for pvp and base raiding, but then it might be hard to keep them confined to that area. An arena is a better idea

I should also say that gluemaker’s house was my doing

I also fixed a few of the worldgates, the line away from spawn and the ice fields loop both work again now and are protected from being broken again

I was just looking at the spawn house again, and I thought perhaps a welcome poster next to the rules poster might help new players understand the server quicker. How does this sound? (Removed hermitcraft-style)

Welcome to eom.dev season 3, a friendly Luanti server hosted by TopHatRick. The game is lightly modded Asuna. For more info visit the Luanti megathread on discourse.eom.dev

Nearby are the markets and public mines, across the bridges is a worldgate and the road to Sparxville, or follow the stairs over the hill to the public farm. There are vacant houses in the town, or you can build your own anywhere

The slimes and skeletons can be hazardous when starting off, most players will be able to provide you with some starting gear if you need it. Dont forget to use /sethome before venturing too far

I like that.
Not sure about advertising Hermit Craft though.
Maybe emphasize it as a ‘creative’ world rather than survival.

I’m quite happy to say that this project was inspired by HermitCraft - I used BDoubleO’s skin in previous seasons. Aside from that, though, there is no affiliation, so it is probably best to let their intellectual property be just that. I like the idea of a welcome poster though!

I get what you mean. Im trying to think of another word to fit there that emphasises the build focus and minimal pvp
I guess a friendly server seems to be the opposite of pvp server

S3:E7 | Welcome ThisNurseKills

After experiencing technical difficulties with our planned Morrowind live stream, @ThisNurseKills and I switched to Luanti for the remainder of the evening. This was actually her first time visiting the Season III server and we had the opportunity to visit a few new(ish) builds. Also, thanks to @Zephyr for joining and giving us a tour of your build!

Season IV Concept

Over the past few weeks I’ve been working on an idea that I’d like to run by everyone. In short, I’m thinking that Season IV could be done in a singlenode world (SkyBlock) that relies more heavily on the markets we have been using on the server already. The concept is described in more detail below, followed by a few polls for your input.

Inspiration

Hermitcraft

Mumbo Jumbo’s base on Hermitcraft is based on the Kowloon City in Hong Kong. Were we to use singlenode map generation in Season IV, we could create similarly designed structures emanating from the eight corners and center of the cube world.

Eve Online

Traditional SkyBlock requires the player to find ways to obtain resources through game mechanics and farms; however, I have seen more activity on the markets this season, so we could rely more on these instead. By providing an initial stock for the markets and offering a small amount of currency for new players to get started, we could create a fairly unique experience for the new season.

Eve Online has one of the most elaborate and realistic economies in a video game. The Commodity Market mod is actually quite similar in its basic design.

Eve emphasizes combat more than we have in previous seasons of this server; however, we may consider installing a few mods to change that if there is community interest.
