Despite the fraudulent projects, recent market crashes, and negative press, I am still generally optimistic about the future of cryptocurrencies. I think the basic technology is sound, and I have both developed blockchain projects and invested into different cryptocurrencies.
Mining
As I have mentioned elsewhere, I am hosting a full Monero node along with P2Pool on my network. This specific currency was chosen as it is competitive to mine on a traditional CPU. Since deployment roughly four months ago, I have mined about $25 USD on my own hardware depending on the exchange rate at any given time. Instructions for joining the mining pool are available in the original post:
Payment Processing
In addition to mining cryptocurrency directly, I have deployed an instance of SHKeeper and have configured wallets to accept payments in Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDC, USDT, Monero, and Dogecoin[1]. Unfortunately, there is no existing integration for Discourse; however, I actually deployed this with the intention of creating custom ones anyway.
Investing and Trading
I use Kraken to exchange cryptocurrencies for investment purposes. While I have invested some of my own money into this, the long-term goal of this project is to acquire an initial investment through mining and payment processing that can then be diversified on the exchange.
In my view, Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Monero are legitimate blockchain projects. USDC and USDT are stablecoins based on the former three projects with a value fixed to the US dollar. Dogecoin is a memecoin. ↩︎
