[1st Draft] Ignorance canon: how to make and why i made it

I’ll section it out so you can get a feel for skip to the section most interesting to you

Why is it called an ignorance canon
really its a portable speaker, I choose to call my creation an ignorance canon because it will spread hatred of, and ignorance against, fascism. I hope that it inspires other people to speak their values and political opinions. hopefully this device gets people to reach out to those near them.

how to make an ignorance canon
recipe:
speakers*: as many as you can comfortable store
speaker cable: no more than 12 feet
car audio amplifier**: at least 1
battery clips: at least 1 set
double sided Velcro: get the strongest Velcro available
optional switch: no more than 1
solder and flux***: the amount of solder in a kit and smallest amount of flux you can buy
12 volt battery****: at least 1

*look for low ohm(or low impedance and as high of wattage rating as you can get. this is my current
**look for a review of what your buying before hand. its false advertising galore.
***I recommend getting flux from the plumber section at a hardware store and soldier online
**** car batteries are perfectly fine to use since the have high amperage output. definitely aim for something comfortable to carry than capacity of the battery
for cheap

current iteration

this is the ignorance canon ,aka portable speaker from car radio idea

  • step 1: first step is to get wires that are thick and flexible (see in the wires in the picture above that connects to the batter and I would cut it to 3 feet anymore than its a trip hazard also shorter wires can deliver more current than longer ones. it will prevent your wires getting hot on you.

  • step 2: solder on battery clips

my recommended way is to heat it up apply flux to test the temperature, if the flux melts then add solder and it should adhere pretty nicely and better than the results above

  • step 3: cut spear wires. should be able to cut them with wire strippers just use full force. recommend all but one wires be around 3 feet and one wire has a length around 5 feet so that way you can point the speakers

  • optional route you can add a switch, your choice get creative; I chose a light switch from a wall. this lets your turn the ignorance canon on and off with a switch.

  • step 4 plug in the wires for the battery terminals just make sure you label/identify what terminals the battery connects

  • step 5 connect rem to 12volts either with a switch or a straight piece of wire

  • step 6 connect to battery just look for indication light that it works

  • step 7 plug in the rest of the wires, make sure your speakers have the same polarity otherwise you might get deconstructive interference.

  • step 8:attache velcro

recommend cutting the double sided Velcro to match your speaker size first, then attaching the sheets to the body of the unit first so that it has a flat surface to attach too and obvious avoid grooves
step 9: find a way to interface with your ignorance canon: I can help you personally if you ever get to this step
step 10: consider mounting the car audio amplifier to a piece of wood that you can screw a handle into, making the ignorance canon into backpack and use the batter as a counterweight.

sourcing parts
I recommend spending 1 day garage sailing (going to garage sales) for every parts I lucked out getting a car audio amplifier that was better than my crappy eBay audio amplifier. I actually spent a lot of time garage sailing and adding to my jump drawer. but garage sailing is slow and cheap way to get parts i spent 20 dollars on 320 watt my amplifier, spent 40 dollars on a 100 watt amplifier online. everything else was free or I forgot how much I paid for them

I do recommend buying on eBay for parts

Hahaha that’s wild. Have you seen Benn Jordan’s YouTube channel? He does a lot of technology/audio projects in a similar vein:

Are you planning to install this in your car and drive around with it? You might run into problems carrying a backpack full of DIY electronics at such an event. I wonder if the circuits of some of those devices could be reduced in size and if an alternative power source (super capacitor?) could achieve the same in a smaller profile. Ideally, everything would fit in the handle of the megaphone.
