So… Owncast vs streaming on PeerTube… Thoughts?

1. Owncast is way better imo. More integrations, better user experience, overall just a decent “twitch like” feeling. PeerTube on the other hand has extremely high latency and just… not as good of a UX. All just my opinion of course.

It depends on what you want out of your livestreaming. Honestly, with my oldest son, he wants to get into streaming. I want to give him a platform where he logs in, he can have his friends create accounts, and it’ll save his videos automatically. IMO, Peertube is a no brainer. He doesn’t need the latency, I want him to have a place to exist with friends in a closed environment, and I want the videos to be recorded automatically. Anything outside of those, Owncast. Owncast is a superior streaming platform. Peertube is a superior all around video platform replacement.

Federated Video-on-Demand Since I have recently been working on producing edited videos in addition to live streaming, I wanted to deploy a platform dedicated to this purpose. PeerTube was the obvious choice, and I was able to get up and running relatively quickly using the Helm chart Ananace.
