ITT We are organizing the Mobipi project for Q4 of 2025. This thread is used to set project goals and periodically check in on progress. This is a good place to stay up to date on the latest project developments.
Planning
Unlike WikiDeck, for which I have requested assistance from my audience, this project I will need to do mostly on my own for the first few milestones. The goal is to design and manufacture the first prototype of this device with the following components:
The designs for these will be made in KiCAD and OpenSCAD, and I will document my procedure for circuit board manufacturing in a separate thread. I expect that process to require a lot of trial and error, and I expect each trial to take a fair amount of time to conduct. The plan, then, is to complete the designs early this quarter so that plenty of time is left for experimenting with the manufacturing process. As is shown on the Owncast calendar, I intend to get make a working version of WikiDeck available for users to experiment with in the next few days. Once that is up I will turn my attention to designing the circuit board for this device. Ideally, this step will be done by the beginning of November, leaving roughly two months to manufacture the board. If necessary, I will simply order the board from a third-party manufacturer.
